Possible reasons why AIDS drugs like Tenofovir (Truvada) may work for some or all CFS patients.

 1. The drugs are working in some Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients because Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is part of the same epidemic as AIDS caused by an agent that has still not been correctly identified.

2. The drugs are working in some Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients because Elaine DeFreitas did find a retrovirus in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Tenofovir (Truvada) is stopping it from replicating. This suggests scientists should take a second look at her work on CFIDS-associated Virus (CAV).

3. The drugs are working in some Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients because they are suffering from a new form of HIV that has yet to be identified.

4. The drugs are working in some Chronic Fatigue Syndrome patients because Judy Mikovits really did identify the presence of a retrovirus in CFS patients. This suggests that scientists should take a second look at her work.

5. The drugs are working against HERV-K18, an endogenous retrovirus which is reactivated in them because of HHV-6. HERV-K18 acts as a superantigen which can dismantle the immune system. The AIDS drugs may be suppressing it in both Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and AIDS.

6. The drugs are broad spectrum in their activity and are actually fighting the many opportunistic agents that CFS shares with AIDS.

7. The drugs are working against HHV-6 which means scientists should take a second look at the HHV-6 theory of AIDS and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome causation.

 8. The drugs are working on African Swine Fever Virus which John Beldekas and Jane Teas identified in AIDS patients. Perhaps scientists should take a second look at their work and test CFS patients for African Swine Fever virus.
