Memo #1 from HHV-6 University: The cockamamie presentation of HHV-6 at the HHV-6 Foundation.
The first thing one sees at the website for The HHV-6 Foundation is this: "Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is a set of two closely related herpes viruses known as HHV-6A and HHV-6B. HHV-6B infects nearly 100% of human beings, typically before the age of three and often results in fever, diarrhea, sometimes with a rash known as roseola. Although rare, this initial infection HHV-6B infection can also cause febrile seizures, encephalitis or intractable seizures. Little is known about the prevalence of HHV-6A or how it is acquired, but one small study found very low levels of HHV-6A in the saliva of half of healthy adults."

Then in a description of a study of African AIDS patients one finds this: "Using whole blood, the investigators tested for EBV-1, EBV-2, HHV-6A, and HHV-6B via qPCR and found that 13% of the population was positive for at least one of the viruses. 17 (7.1%) patients tested positive for HHV-6A and/or HHV-6B, and 10 (4.2%) had HHV-6A/B coinfections. Five patients had only HHV-6A, and two had only HHV-6B."

This is typical of the HHV-6 Foundation. It's like their goal is to totally confuse the public about HHV-6. They don't seem to be able to make up their minds if it is a serious public health crisis. They have never called it that. They treat HHV-6 like it is just an opportunistic curiosity that fell from the sky. Nothing here folks, just move along. Oh, but it seems to be linked to a long list of medical problems. The fact that their scientific director, Dharam Ablashi, was a sidekick to one of the biggest crooks in science (Robert Gallo) just makes matters worse. And then there is the allegation made by Boston University scientist John Beldekas years ago that Gallo just took African Swine Fever and renamed it HHV-6.
We started HHV-6 University to counter the confusion and disinformation at Dharam Ablashi's HHV-6 Foundation. It's time to take HHV-6 out of the hands of Gallo's puppets.
