Does the new Maureen Hanson research show similarity between Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and AIDS?

Study finds differences in energy use by immune cells in ME/CFS Thursday, December 12, 2019 NIH-funded research suggests changes in the immune system in myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome New findings published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation suggest that specific immune T cells from people with myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) show disruptions in the way they produce energy. The research was supported by the National Institutes of Health. “This research gives us additional evidence for the role of the immune system in ME/CFS and may provide important clues to help us understand the mechanisms underlying this devastating disease,” said Vicky Whittemore, Ph.D., program director at NIH’s National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), which partially funded the study. ME/CFS is a severe, chronic, and debilitating disease that can cause a range of symptoms including pain, severe exhaustion, co...

More evidence HHV-6 is the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

Tweet Will Bhupesh Prusty win a Nobel Prize for clarifying the role of HHV-6 in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? "Purkinje cells are a central part of the human cerebellum, the part of the brain that plays an important role in motor learning, fine motor control of the muscle, equilibrium and posture but also influences emotions, perception, memory and language. Scientists from the Institute for Virology and Immunobiology of the University of Würzburg and their US colleagues have now made a surprising discovery in these nerve cells. They found a high infection rate of Purkinje neurons with the human herpesvirus HHV-6 for the first time in patients with bipolar disorder and/or severe depression. The study was led by Dr. Bhupesh Prusty, group leader at the Department of Microbiology. The scientists have now published the results of their study in the journal Frontiers in Microbiology ." https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2018/08/180809112440.htm ...

Is this what HHV-6 does to Natural Killer Cells in Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, AIDS, and Alzheimer's patients?

Tweet Reduced glycolytic reserve in isolated natural killer cells from Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome patients: A preliminary investigation. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/29981562 Will Bhupesh Prusty nail HHV-6 as the major cause or trigger of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome? https://solvecfs.org/hhv-6-mediated-mitochondrial-modulation-and-its-possible-association-to-mecfs/ HHV-6 Mediated Mitochondrial Modulation and Its Association to ME/CFS A project summary as written by Bhupesh Prusty: Infections are frequently associated with chronic disease development and likely, play crucial roles in the onset or progression of several human disorders that are not classified as infectious diseases. Myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME)/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) is one such example. However, the precise role of pathogens in ME/CFS development remains, predominantly, uncharacterized. Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is frequently associated with several huma...

Will Bhupesh Prusty add more evidence that HHV-6 is the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome?

However, the precise role of pathogens in ME/CFS development remains, predominantly, uncharacterized. Human Herpesvirus 6 (HHV-6) is frequently associated with several human diseases including ME/CFS. Work from my laboratory as well as from others have shown that HHV-6 frequently integrates into human chromosomes in order to achieve latency (ciHHV-6). Originally, ciHHV-6 was thought to be the dead end for the virus. However recent publications demonstrate that ce...
