The recent MGH conference may have given the medical students the impression that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a disease that strikes unfortunate women for mysterious reasons. There needs to be a conference with male patients on the panel and also with doctors and nurses who have contracted the illness on the job. The young doctors learning about this illness need to be warned that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is a serious contagious disease that they can contract while treating it. Anecdotal evidence suggests that a number of doctors (and nurses) involved in treating or researching the illness have contracted it.
